In 2016, Angela Skelhorn began the journey of Messy Play Studio. While watching an episode of Dragon’s Den on paint parties she had an idea. What if we could do something like that with kids – from there Messy Play Studio was born. After many months of research, sourcing equipment and learning from the UK model she began by offering classes where kids could do what kids do best – get messy!
Having a background in Fine Art, having graduated from OCAD University, and a Diploma from George Brown in Early Childhood Education, Angela brings knowledge and creativity to everything she does. Her philosophy is one that encourages and embraces the process of creativity and the ability to learn through experience, curiosity and play.
Family and community is also a big part of who we are and what’s important to us as a company and organization. Angela has four children who have been a big part of Messy Play Studio and inspire her to continue to work hard at contributing to the community every day.
Messy Play Studio is working at opening their first Play Studio in 2022. They are also growing their blog to provide information, resources and activity ideas for our community of families and we are excited to provide virtual programming while we wait to be able to safely see everyone in person again.
Messy Play Studio is an award winning program for children and their families centered around sensory play and process art.
